About This Collection
The hallway is the first room a guest sees and the one you walk through most, so the prints here are chosen to work at a glance and at close range. They fall into four groups.
Dogs and dog typography are the most popular. The Greyhound Rise and Shine Print is the best seller in this collection, a good thing to pass on the way out on a Monday. The Dog Print "Everything's Fine, I Think" offers a more honest assessment of the same morning. Nearer the door, the Dogs Welcome People Tolerated Print and the Good Dogs Only Print set out the house rules before anyone takes their coat off, and the breed club prints, including The Dachshund Club Typography Print, suit owners who consider their breed a membership rather than a pet.
Welcome and words covers typography and poems for the entrance. The "This Must Be the Place" Quote Print and the Home Is Where The Heart Is Print are natural front-door prints, while the Desiderata Poem Print and the Irish Blessing print are longer reads for a landing or the wall by the stairs. The typography prints collection has more in this vein.
Travel prints suit a hallway because they're about going somewhere. The Copenhagen Nyhavn Canal Print, the Venice Gondola Canal Print and the Anglesey Lighthouse Print sit alongside Amsterdam, Lake Geneva and a Spanish village. More are in the location and travel prints collection.
Botanical and William Morris prints bring pattern to a space that often has little else. The William Morris Fox Print and the William Morris White Doves print suit period hallways with dark paint or panelling, and the William Morris collection has the rest of the menagerie.
What works as hallway wall art?
By the front door, choose something readable at a glance. A short typography print or a bold dog quote works better here than a detailed landscape, because nobody lingers in a doorway.
Up the stairs, a staggered line of A4 and A3 prints following the angle of the banister makes use of a wall that's otherwise hard to decorate. Travel prints or a set of breed club prints work well as a series.
Along a narrow corridor or landing, portrait-format prints at eye level suit the space, and detailed prints such as the William Morris pieces reward the closer viewing distance.
For a hallway gallery wall, mix travel prints with a few pieces from the botanical prints collection, or carry the look through from the living room collection so the house feels connected from the moment you walk in.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of hallway wall art is in this collection?
The collection includes dog quote and breed club typography prints; welcome and home typography; poem prints including the Desiderata and an Irish blessing; travel prints of European cities, coasts and lighthouses; William Morris and vintage botanical prints; floral and bird prints; and a few seasonal autumn and Halloween prints for rotating through the year.
Can I change hallway prints with the seasons?
The hallway is the easiest room to do it in, because one print by the door changes the feel of the whole entrance. The Pumpkin Pals Ghost & Cat Print and the Hello Pumpkin Typography print suit the autumn, and the autumn prints collection has plenty more to swap in when the clocks go back.
Are hallway prints good housewarming gifts?
They're one of the better choices, because a new home rarely has anything by the front door yet. The welcome and home typography prints are the obvious fit, the Personalised Pumpkin Patch Print can carry a family name for an autumn move, and a travel print of the town they've moved from makes a thoughtful send-off.
What sizes are available?
Most prints are available in sizes from 5x7 up to A1, with both metric and US paper sizes. Full size options are shown on each individual product page. By the front door and up the stairs, A4 and A3 suit the narrower walls, while A2 works on a wide landing or at the end of a long corridor.
Can all prints be ordered framed?
Yes. All prints can be ordered framed. We're rolling framed options out across the site, so individual listings will show whether a framed version is currently available. If you'd like a framed version of a print that doesn't yet have that option listed, get in touch and we'll sort it for you.
What is the print quality like?
Prints are produced on FSC-certified 200gsm fine art paper using a 12-colour press with a matte, glare-free finish. The dark greens and deep reds of the William Morris prints hold their depth well, which helps in hallways with less natural light.
