About This Collection
Fifteen prints, three strands, and a great deal of foliage.
The woodland animals are the heart of the collection. The William Morris Hedgehog Print, the William Morris Deer Print, the William Morris Squirrel Print, the William Morris Barn Owl Print and the William Morris Pheasant Print each set a single creature inside a dense Morris-style pattern of leaves and flowers. The fox comes in two versions: the peony fox and the autumn fox, for people who can't decide and people who want a pair. These William Morris animal prints reward a second look.
The birds and water prints are lighter in mood. The William Morris Swan Print sets a lake scene in the same layered foliage, the William Morris White Doves Print is the softest piece in the collection, and the William Morris Bee Print proves that one hardworking insect can carry an entire composition.
The florals, gardens and harvest strand is closest to Morris's own textiles. The William Morris Peony Print, the William Morris Floral Print and the Autumn Peony Tree Print are all about the pattern, while the William Morris Orchard Garden Print and the William Morris Harvest Kitchen Print bring in the kitchen garden.
The same prints also appear in the cottagecore prints collection, and the botanical prints collection and vintage prints collection have more in a similar register.
What rooms suit William Morris prints?
Living rooms suit the larger animal prints. A fox or pheasant at A2 or A1 holds a wall on its own, especially against dark paint, panelling or anything green.
Bedrooms suit the calmer doves, swan and peony prints, and kitchens are the natural home for the Bee and Harvest Kitchen prints.
For gallery walls, pair a Morris print or two with pieces from the floral prints collection rather than hanging six patterns side by side, which can start to feel like being inside a cushion.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are William Morris prints?
William Morris was the Victorian designer at the heart of the English Arts and Crafts movement, best known for wallpapers and textiles built from dense, flowing patterns of leaves, flowers, birds and fruit. William Morris wall art borrows that language: layered foliage, strong outlines and rich natural colour, usually with a plant or animal at the centre.
Are these original William Morris designs?
No. These are new prints inspired by Morris's style rather than reproductions of his original wallpapers. They borrow his layered botanical patterns and apply them to animals and garden scenes he never got round to drawing.
Are William Morris prints good gifts?
They feel substantial and considered rather than novelty. The animal prints make it easy to match a recipient: a hedgehog for the gardener, a barn owl for the night owl, a fox for anyone who has one visiting the garden. William Morris framed prints make a particularly good housewarming gift.
What sizes are available?
Most prints are available in sizes from 5x7 up to A1, with both metric and US paper sizes. Full size options are shown on each individual product page. A2 and A1 give the density of a Morris pattern enough space to read properly in living rooms.
Can all prints be ordered framed?
Yes. All prints can be ordered framed. We're rolling framed options out across the site, so individual listings will show whether a framed version is currently available. If you'd like a framed version of a print that doesn't yet have that option listed, get in touch and we'll sort it for you.
What is the print quality like?
Prints are produced on FSC-certified 200gsm fine art paper using a 12-colour press with a matte, glare-free finish. The layered greens, deep reds and warm ochres of a Morris-style pattern need accurate colour to keep their richness, which is where the 12-colour process matters.
