Collection: Bauhaus Prints

Bauhaus prints for people who like their wall art to have a grid under it. The Bauhaus school ran from 1919 to 1933 and taught that good design should be simple, useful and built from basic shapes, and its posters still look more modern than most things made last year. This collection draws on that tradition: geometric compositions in black, beige and navy, a 1923 exhibition-style series, Paul Klee-inspired exhibition posters, and a few modernist form studies and textured abstracts in the same spirit. Clean lines, strong colour and not a single unnecessary flourish.

All prints are unframed on 200gsm matte fine art paper, from 5x7 up to A1, with framed options available. Free shipping to the US and UK. Ships worldwide.

About This Collection

This is a small, tightly focused collection of Bauhaus art prints that falls into three groups.

Geometric Bauhaus prints. The Black Bauhaus Print, the Beige Bauhaus Print and the Navy Bauhaus Print are the same geometric design in three colourways, so the choice comes down to the room: beige for warm neutrals, navy for cooler schemes and black for maximum contrast.

The 1923 series. The Bauhaus 1923 Print, the Bauhaus 1923 Circles Print and the Bauhaus 1923 Pattern Print take their name from the year of the school's landmark exhibition in Weimar. Each works as a Bauhaus exhibition poster on its own, and as a trio they make an obvious set.

Paul Klee and modernist posters. Klee taught at the Bauhaus for a decade, which makes the Paul Klee-inspired exhibition prints a natural fit. The Paul Klee Village Landscape Print and the Paul Klee Biomorphic Forms Print sit alongside a Basel Works on Paper design. The Surface Studies Abstract Art Print, the Textured Forms print, the Mid-Century Modern Form Studies series and the Art Deco Paris Exposition Print, Art Deco being the Bauhaus's more decorative contemporary, round things out.

For more in this direction, the abstract art prints and mid-century modern prints collections both carry the same design thinking forward.

What rooms suit Bauhaus prints?

Home offices and studies suit Bauhaus prints particularly well. Geometric wall art reads as focused rather than decorative, which is the right note for a room where you're meant to be getting things done.

Living rooms suit larger Paul Klee prints and the navy or black geometric prints, especially alongside clean-lined furniture with little else competing for the eye.

Hallways and stairwells suit the 1923 series, which has enough graphic punch to register as you walk past.

For gallery walls, Bauhaus prints pair well with minimalist prints and typography prints, which share the same love of a strong grid.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bauhaus art?

Bauhaus art comes from the German design school of the same name, founded by Walter Gropius in 1919. It brought fine art, craft and industrial design together and favoured primary colours, basic geometric shapes, clean typography and function over ornament. Its influence runs through modern graphic design, furniture and architecture.

Are these original Bauhaus posters?

No. These are new designs inspired by Bauhaus and modernist exhibition posters, including the Paul Klee-inspired prints, rather than reproductions of historical originals, and they're printed to order in the size you choose.

Do Bauhaus prints work as a set?

Very well. The black, beige and navy prints are one design in three colours, and the three 1923 prints share a name and a look, so either makes a ready-made set. Mixing one geometric print with a Paul Klee-inspired poster also works, since they share a century and a design philosophy. Buy 2, save 10%; buy 3, save 15% is applied automatically at checkout.

What sizes are available?

Most prints are available in sizes from 5x7 up to A1, with both metric and US paper sizes. Full size options are shown on each individual product page. For a single geometric Bauhaus print above a desk or sofa, A2 or A1 lets the shapes hold the wall, while A3 suits a set of three.

Can all prints be ordered framed?

Yes. All prints can be ordered framed. We're rolling framed options out across the site, so individual listings will show whether a framed version is currently available. If you'd like a framed version of a print that doesn't yet have that option listed, get in touch and we'll sort it for you.

What is the print quality like?

Prints are produced on FSC-certified 200gsm fine art paper using a 12-colour press with a matte, glare-free finish. Strong geometric shapes depend on clean edges and even colour, and the matte finish keeps the navy and black prints from picking up reflections.

Where do you ship and how long does delivery take?

We ship worldwide via Gelato's global print network, meaning your order is fulfilled close to where you live. Every print is made to order and dispatched promptly, then arrives within 2 to 5 business days of dispatch. Free shipping applies to US and UK orders.
