About This Collection
This is the largest room collection in the shop, which says less about indecision than about how many kinds of print a living room can carry. It falls into four broad groups.
Japanese landscapes and nature are the most popular. The Natural Forest Print, the Sleeping Cat Japanese Print, the Kyoto Flower Garden Print and the Flying Cranes Print are calm, well-balanced compositions that fill a large wall without shouting. The Layered Mountains Print is the quietest of the lot, and suits rooms in greens, creams and natural wood.
Matisse-style and abstract botanicals bring colour and shape. The Floral Whippet Print is one of the best sellers in this collection, a whippet given the full Matisse treatment and looking entirely comfortable with it. The Shells & Flora Botanical Abstract Print and the Casa Botanica Floral Abstract Print follow the same idea, and the Sun & Tulips prints come in enough colourways to match most sofas. The Matisse collection has the full set.
Animal portraits are for people who would like the dog on the wall as well as on the sofa. The Pug Art Print, the Persian Cat Portrait Print, the Golden Retriever Art Print and the Highland Cow Print all work at size, where a portrait reads as art rather than pet memorabilia.
Travel prints and poems round things out: the Copenhagen Nyhavn Canal Print, the Cornwall Coast Print, the Taormina and Lake Geneva prints, and poem prints such as the Desiderata Poem Print and Yeats's The Lake Isle of Innisfree for a wall that rewards a closer look.
If you're decorating more than one room, the bedroom collection leans calmer, the dining room collection leans towards food, wine and conversation, and the hallway collection covers the first wall anyone sees.
Where should living room wall art go?
Above the sofa is the obvious spot, and it suits one large print better than several small ones. A Japanese landscape or a Matisse-style botanical at A1 gives the room a focal point, and a print roughly two thirds the width of the sofa tends to look settled rather than lost.
Above a fireplace or sideboard, a single portrait or travel print works well, or a pair of matching prints side by side. The Sun & Tulips prints in two colourways are an easy pair to get right.
Alcoves, shelves and the wall by the window suit smaller prints at A4 or A3: a poem print, a small animal portrait, something you notice when you sit down rather than as you walk in.
For gallery walls, the living room is the room with enough space to do one properly. Mix Japanese and Matisse-style prints with pieces from the abstract prints collection and the botanical prints collection, and keep one colour running through the set so it reads as a single idea.
Frequently Asked Questions
What styles of living room wall art are in this collection?
The collection includes Japanese-inspired landscapes, florals and animal prints; Matisse-style botanicals and abstract floral prints; dog, cat and farm animal portraits; travel and location prints from Europe and the UK; poem and quote prints; vintage botanical leaf prints; Bauhaus and mid-century abstracts; and a scattering of funny prints for rooms that don't take themselves too seriously.
How do I choose living room prints that go together?
Pick one thing the prints share, whether a colour, a style or a subject, and let everything else vary. Two Japanese landscapes with a Matisse botanical in a shared green, or three animal portraits in different styles, will look intentional. Buy 2, save 10%; buy 3, save 15%, applied automatically at checkout, which makes building a set more straightforward.
Is living room wall art a good housewarming gift?
It's one of the better ones, because a new home usually has more empty walls than it has anything else. The Japanese landscapes and vintage botanicals are the safest choices for someone whose taste you're still learning, while a breed portrait or a travel print of somewhere meaningful to them makes a more personal gift.
What sizes are available?
Most prints are available in sizes from 5x7 up to A1, with both metric and US paper sizes. Full size options are shown on each individual product page. Above a sofa or fireplace, A2 or A1 gives a single print enough presence, while A4 and A3 suit alcoves, shelves and gallery walls.
Can all prints be ordered framed?
Yes. All prints can be ordered framed. We're rolling framed options out across the site, so individual listings will show whether a framed version is currently available. If you'd like a framed version of a print that doesn't yet have that option listed, get in touch and we'll sort it for you.
What is the print quality like?
Prints are produced on FSC-certified 200gsm fine art paper using a 12-colour press with a matte, glare-free finish. The layered greens of the Japanese landscapes and the flat, bold colours of the Matisse-style prints both hold up well at larger sizes.
Where do you ship and how long does delivery take?

Free shipping applies to US and UK orders.
