Description

This black cat print shows a huge, fluffed-up black cat sitting on a bistro table, pale eyes fixed on the viewer while a glass of red wine and a pink joint of ham wait beside it on a white cloth. Behind it, 'Café du Chat' runs in loose, cream hand-lettering across a bold orange-red ground — a play on the old Le Chat Noir posters from Montmartre. The crayon-like texture in the fur and whiskers gives the cat a dishevelled, faintly comic presence, like it's been sat there holding court all afternoon. It suits a kitchen or dining room looking for a jolt of orange-red, or a hallway wall that gets a lot of passing traffic — the cat's stare works well face-on. Fans of vintage French poster art, Steinlen's cat illustrations, or just a good wine joke will find plenty to like here, and it works equally well for a cat owner's kitchen or a bistro-style dining nook. It's available in multiple sizes, professionally printed on FSC-certified 200gsm fine art paper with a soft matte finish and rich, detailed colour, so the crayon texture and the depth of that orange-red ground come through clearly. Simple, bold, and easy to place.

This print is gorgeous. I had originally planned to hang it elsewhere, but it is so lovely that I made it the focal point of the living room. We ordered it framed and the frame is nice quality, too.

Customer photo review of Sleeping Cat Japanese Print

Exactly as described and arrived quickly. I misjudged the sizing a bit, so there is no white border on top, but that’s a me problem. I’m super happy with my purchase regardless and would absolutely buy from this store again. Very high quality print.
