Description

This soap bar print captures a thick, chunky bar of orange-red soap painted like a slab of meat, its edges dabbed with white highlights and set against a deep navy ground. Soft bands of sage green and powder blue sit behind it like a wall or window, giving the still life a calm, muted backdrop for the joke beneath it: 'wash your hands,' lettered by hand in bold black script. The thick, visible brushwork gives it the texture of an oil still life rather than a flat print, and the sage, navy and soft orange palette settle into most colour schemes without shouting. It suits a bathroom or downstairs loo where the pun gets noticed, though it sits just as naturally near a kitchen sink or on a wall of smaller prints. It's an easy pick for a new flatmate, a housewarming, or anyone who appreciates their hygiene reminders painted rather than printed on a sign. It's available in multiple sizes, professionally printed on FSC-certified 200gsm fine art paper with a soft matte finish and rich, detailed colour, so the heavy brushwork and hand-lettered caption stay crisp at any size. Hang it solo above the basin, or slot it into a small gallery wall with other kitchen and bathroom prints for a lighter note among the rest.

This print is gorgeous. I had originally planned to hang it elsewhere, but it is so lovely that I made it the focal point of the living room. We ordered it framed and the frame is nice quality, too.

Customer photo review of Sleeping Cat Japanese Print

Exactly as described and arrived quickly. I misjudged the sizing a bit, so there is no white border on top, but that’s a me problem. I’m super happy with my purchase regardless and would absolutely buy from this store again. Very high quality print.
